I enjoy making pottery out of my home-based workshop here in southeast Louisiana. I want to thank all of my customers who have supported my small business.

***Most US domestic orders ship via USPS mail. (Heavier and/or larger orders may ship by FedEx). Most Ready to Ship orders ship within 2 or 3 business days. I will combine products purchased together in the same box to reduce shipping rates if they safely fit together. If you make two separate purchases, please include a note to the seller that you would like them shipped together if possible to combine shipping. (When we get busy, it can be overlooked that two orders are going to the same address.) If you need expedited shipping, there is an option at checkout to upgrade to Priority or Express shipping.

The making of pottery is not a quick process. Custom orders may take a few weeks or more. Here's an idea of the process:
1. The clay is cut, weighed, and wedged (for uniformity).
2. The Form is shaped from wet clay - either by throwing on the wheel or by building by hand.
3. Embellishing and Finishing - Carving, Piercing, Altering, Trimming, Adding Sprigs, Handles, or Slip Trails – all of these are done while the clay is soft - leather hard.
4. Drying – may take 2 - 10 days. The humidity and air temperature are factors, as are the type of clay body and the thickness of the clay. The clay must be allowed to completely dry before going into the kiln. If there is moisture left in the clay, it may explode in the kiln. The clay also shrinks as it dries, so items appear larger and taller when wet.
5. Finishing – touching up, smoothing any rough areas before firing.
6. Bisque Firing – about 24 hours. Ceramic pottery pieces are put into a cold kiln for the 1st firing. The clay is fired to harden it; moisture is removed and the clay begins the transition to stoneware, although it is still relatively soft and quite porous. The kiln takes between 6-8 hours to reach about 1900° F (1050° Centigrade). Then it takes about 12 hours to cool.
7. Glazing – Glaze may be applied in many ways, poured on, sponged on, painted on, dipped, and/or sprayed. Only lead free, non toxic glazes are used on our pottery. This process may take a two days or more.
8. Glaze Firing- 24 hours. The thoroughly dried pottery pieces go into the kiln for a last firing. This time the kiln temperature reaches about 2200°F (1190° Centigrade). The glaze turns into a glass-like coating and becomes one with the ceramic piece. The stoneware clay body becomes dense and vitreous; it is no longer absorbs water. At this point, it is strong and durable, resistant to chipping. Most pieces can be used in the oven and microwave. Most are also safe for use in the dishwasher. For some effects, an additional glaze firing is required.

Care instructions

Handmade sculptures for decoration are best wiped with a damp cloth or rinsed off.
All functional ware is dishwasher safe and microwave safe, except items with gold or silver trim. Avoid tightly packing the dishwasher to protect rims and handles from hitting other washables.
Items with gold or silver trim are handwash only and may not be used in the microwave.
